Dan & Sandy's Lions Page

Dan has served as a volunteer with Lions Clubs International. In addition to serving as a director and committee chairman of many Lions Club related charities, Dan served as District Governor for District 23-B of Lions Clubs International in 1990-91. He is a member of the Watertown Lions Club.

Currently, Dan is serving as an officer of the Lions Gallery of Vision Services, Inc. This non-profit organization provides a Low Vision Center in the Hartford and Litchfield counties in Connecticut. He is a member of the Multiple District 23 Promote Connecticut Committee and has accepted the responsibilities of managing the Connecticut Lions efforts on the internet: LionNet Connecticut. He also serves as the Chairman of the International Convention Parade Uniform Committee.

Dan has been recognized by Lions Clubs International with two Lions International President's Certificates of Appreciation. On January 31, 1998, Dan received the International Leadership Medal from International President Howard 'Pat' Patterson. Dan has received three Melvin Jones Fellowships. One MJF from District 23-B, a second from the Watertown Lions Club and a third from personal support to Campaign SightFirst. The Watertown Lions Club has also recognized Dan for his work by naming him a Knight of the Blind, a recognition program of the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation.

Although she is not a Lion, Sandy has been active in many of the charitable projects and has also been recognized by Lions District 23-B with a Melvin Jones Fellowship. She works as the administrator of the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation on a part time basis.

Dan joined the Bloomfield Lions Club in Connecticut when asked by Past District Governor Tom Hubbs in 1978. In that club he served as Tail Twister, Secretary and 100% Club President. In 1986, Dan transferred to the Watertown Lions Club. Dan was enthusiastically accepted by his new club, and was encouraged to run for District Governor. In the new club, Dan served as Director on the Board and Treasurer. He also served as Spring Fair Chairman. Currently, Dan is maintaining a web page for the Watertown Lions Club.

He served on the District 23-B cabinet as District Bulletin editor, Zone Chairman, Publicity Chairman, Lions Liaison to the State of Connecticut, Board of Education and Services for the Blind, Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation Lions Day Chairman. For Multiple District 23, Dan has served on the Permanent Convention Committee, Chairman of the Promote Connecticut Committee, International Convention Chairman (Minneapolis), (2) Mid Winter Conference Reservation Chairman, (2) State Convention Reservation Chairman, International Parade Uniform Chairman and Multiple District SightFirst Chairman.

Dan & Sandy also trade Lion Club pins, and is a member of the Lions International Pin Traders Club.
